source:China News Network time:2023-06-07

On June 6th, 2019, China issued 5G licenses. In the past four years of commercial use of 5G, China has presented a brilliant report.

At the ongoing 31st China International Information and Communication Exhibition, Jin Zhuanglong, Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that China’s mobile communication network has achieved a leap from 3G breakthrough, 4G synchronization to 5G leadership.

China has built the world’s largest and most advanced 5G network. As of the end of April this year, a total of over 2.73 million 5G base stations have been built. The 5G network covers all cities and counties in China. As of the end of April, there were 634 million 5G mobile phone users.

Wu Hequan, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that by April this year, China’s 5G base stations accounted for 60% of the world’s total, and 5G users also accounted for 60% of the world’s total.

“China’s 5G and optical fiber network construction is the world’s leading”, Wu Hequan said that 5G has also made good progress in low carbon. Compared with 4G, the energy efficiency of 5G base stations is five times that of 4G.

The co-construction and sharing of China’s 5G network provides the world with a Chinese solution. China Telecom and China Unicom have jointly built the world’s largest 5G SA shared high-quality network. Zhang Zhiyong, chairman of the China Tower, said that over the past nine years, the sharing rate of new stations has increased from 14% to 83%, which accelerates the 5G New Infrastructure and makes the network deployment more efficient and economical.

At this year’s communication exhibition, 5G new calls, naked eye 3D, 5G surgical robots, holographic interaction, VR/AR (virtual reality/augmented reality)... 5G is increasingly integrated into people’s daily lives.

The naked eye 3D and holographic interaction in the Huawei exhibition area attracted consumers. Huawei Senior Vice President Li Peng said that the low latency and large bandwidth of 5G have spawned many new businesses, such as new calls, new videos, and naked eye 3D, driving the continuous upgrading of consumer experience.

In the interactive experience area of China Telecom’s 5G connected drone cockpit, viewers can experience sitting in the drone cockpit of Beijing and watching the beautiful scenery from all over the country.

In the past four years of commercial use of 5G, it has enabled various industries to undergo digital and intelligent transformation, and the breadth and depth of 5G integration applications continue to be promoted. As of now, 5G has been widely applied in over 16,000 private network projects in industries such as steel, manufacturing, mining, power, and ports, and the economic scale of 5G industry private networks has exceeded 10 billion Chinese yuan.

Accelerate the replication of 5G solutions for key industries such as mining, ports, and power. Huawei exhibition area personnel introduced that in the complex and dangerous underground mine operation scene, the low-frequency and large bandwidth resources are applied to the uplink of more than 100 cameras through the 5G intelligent mine solution, and the AI technology is used to realize the middle mining face 360-degree video splicing, so that the underground operation can be seen completely and clearly on the well.

According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, 5G integration applications have been integrated into 60 out of 97 national economic categories, an increase of 8 industries compared to 52 last year, and the number of application cases exceeds 50,000.

The construction of 5G networks has driven the development of the communication industry chain. The customized products of 5G networks are constantly maturing, and network equipment such as lightweight core networks and customized base stations are accelerating their implementation. Technical capabilities such as large bandwidth and low latency are continuously enhancing. 5G terminal products are becoming increasingly abundant. As of the end of March this year, there have been over 1,160 5G terminal products such as 5G mobile phones, wireless routers, and car terminals.

At this exhibition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the comprehensive promotion of 6G technology research and development. Multiple companies bring cutting-edge exploration of 6G. UNISOC said that it has carried out prospective cohort study in such cutting-edge technology fields as communication perception integration, full duplex, artificial intelligence, and intelligent reflectors.

The industry believes that China has a clear strategic positioning and spectrum support for 5G, and operators continue to innovate in scenarios around 5G user experience. The entire industry has jointly promoted 5G application innovation and ecological development.
